The Holy Emeishan

Day 3

We got up at 5:15 a.m. to take the bus to Mt. Emei itself. The bus ride took two hours from the city to the mountain. The mountain is on UNESCO's World Heritage List. We climbed 10,000 steps and took a cable car to the top, 3,099 meters above sea level. There is a giant Buddha statue that is 48 meters high. It is an incredibly beautiful statue, with a view of endless clouds all around. There were lots of people on the mountain, most of them Chinese. We were lucky to have gone up the mountain early.

After the hiking, we took the express train from Emeishan City to Jiuzhaigou, a 3.5-hour train ride, reaching speeds of up to 250 km/h. We arrived in Jiuzhaigou late in the evening and took a two-hour bus ride to the Celebrity Jiuzhaigou Hotel at 11:30 p.m. Completely exhausted.
