On the road to Mount Wutai

DAY 6

We left Chengdu and flew to Taiyuan. The flight took two hours. There we met a local guide named Jackie. He told us that Taiyuan has a population of 5.5 million, which is still a small city by Chinese standards. The main industry is coal mining, which supplies the whole of China with electricity.

We then took a three-hour bus ride to Mount Wutai (Wutai Shan). We arrived at 9:00 p.m., where the temperature was 1 degree Celsius. Bitterly cold.

The whole day has been spent traveling from Chengdu to Mount Wutai. Very tired. We were going to spend two nights at the Hua Hui Jun Lan Hotel, a very nice hotel.
